I've had this issue ever since I bought my macbook pro.

I have

quicktime pro (paid) - Niether qt play this 2.8GB .mp4 file. Both respond with 'could not be opened' giving a 'tell me more' link to apple site. Also itunes does not respond at all.

perian - is up to date.

flip4mac - is up to date although this shouldn't really matter.

vlc - app launches and title appears in control window with file shown as playing (play/pause button) but timer does not more and sound/video does not display.

This is really odd.

Any ideas? Thanks.
